    Mine came this morning

Fig Tree offer. I am sending off for this.
        I have A few queries.
Reading-up on it, advice is to keep it in a pot. Is this actually necessary?
How long before I can expect to get fruit. My apples, pears and especially my plums have been growing for 4 or 5 years and this is the first year I have had a really good crop. Can I expect the same from the fig.
Netting - do the birds actually do enough damage to warrant the expense and effort to net. I dont mind birds having some of them, so long as I get some too.
Espallier - Do they lend themselves to this style of growth.

Havent had mine yet, but they are in Tesco`s! Not what you pay a subscription for!!
A bad days fishing is still better than a good day at work!
There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.

Not had mine either and I normally get mine one of the first on here.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Mine hasn't arrived yet either and I agree with Brooklynodog this is not what I pay a subscription for.

I don't accept the explanation that a bank holiday has sdomething to do with it after all it's not like they suddenly announced the holiday and it caught everyone on the hop!

I'm with the professor & brooklynodog on this.

I still haven't received my copy; I was considering cancelling my subscription anyway - poor service like this (and an even poorer excuse) just makes it even more likely.

                    Back to the Fig Tree!

I've got every sympathy with subscribers who will be getting their issue after I do. (That was one of the reasons I decided not to subscribe - no appreciable wait! )

                    To this fig tree:
In addition to wellies' questions, will it grow outside in Scotland? If it's got the same tomcat smell as my ex's, I don't really want it in the house!

Mine has arrived today. Usually get it one of the first but for some reason this time it's taken rather longer.

My issue finally showed up! Perhaps if bank holidays are such a problem I should warn the publishers about the bank holidays in December in case they are taken by surprise again.

That is, of course, my ex's fig tree!

Having read the magazine, I think my questions have been answered. (Except the one as to whether it's smelly...)

I've had a fig tree for a few years and it doesn't smell at all, very strange!

Maybe it's the variety? What variety do you have?

When he first got it (as a present) I thought that he'd left the door to his flat open and a tomcat had got in! Mind you, his sister (the donor) has a very wacky sense of humour I like her!!

ETA: It's definitely a fig tree - it has figs and figlets and everything!
