What is this weed?

I find this all over the beds. It has a prostrate aspect, forming mats over the soil. Lots of thin green stems radiate out, and entangle, each stem has radial leaves along its length, each leaf is about 4mm long and very narrow. I know i have no photo, but any ideas? It is annoying!

No, cleavers is easy to pull out. This one is much more delicate, stems are 1mm thick if that, but the general form is similar.

As said, leaves are about 4mm long.

There was some of this in my Daughters garden today and my little Granddaughter was in fits of giggles when I called it Sticky Willy ......

Only thing I can think of with that small leaf, weed wise is chickweed but that doesn't rally Matt.

Does it flower? Does it smell when crushed?

I have mouse ear chick weed which is more robust. I will try and get a photo. I have a nice garden mushroom - Melanoleuca verrucipes - to photograph anyway.

I think you win the coconut. Thank you, that is the little devil. Online descriptions suggest it is very invasive. I have it all over my beds, a real pest. Other weeds are under control, but this one is a pain. This year seems to be bad for it.

I've never come across it either! I was going to suggest corsican mint, but it'd be obvious that it was part of the mint family.
