  • Tar spot (black spot) fungus

    Can't help noticing vast piles of tar-spot (black spot) leaves around me at the moment. I think the attached photo is of a sycamore leaf but believe a similar or related fungus-based ailment can spread to roses, fruit etc? Over the weekend even beautiful Clumber Park (Robin Hood territory) seemed affected and it was also very apparent on an earlier walk in West Yorkshire - so pretty common? I assume unwise to compost/leaf-mould any leaves showing signs of this? Is any preventative action recommended or necessary if in the locality?
