I was trimming back lots of my herbs today and found loads of strange bugs on my sage plant. There were small green fly type things, had a long body, light green colour that were hovering about and when I cut the sage back there was quite a few of them. There were also lots of white balls (tiny) that look like they could be eggs of some sort - what are these, and how can I get rid of them organically?
They don't seem to be damaging my herbs much, just hanging out.
I also noticed that one of my tomato plants has some stuff on it that looks like bruising (on the branches), its brown and softer to the touch - is this blight? One tomato looked abit soft and horrible, I've pulled this plant up now in case but how do you dispose of it?

Definatley no room for burning round here, unless I want to burn the house down too!! I ended up chopping all of my 4 tom plants today anyway as they are pretty spent...only one of the plants had the slightest bit of blight on it (some small bruise looking things up a branch) and none of the toms are affected...will they be safe to eat though? how will you know if they are affected?
