  • millipede type pests in my potatoes

    Hi all,

Am new on here and looking for a bit of advice regarding the potatoes I have grown this year. First time growing potatoes but grown beetroot, cabbbages, cauli in the same patch the last two years with no problems, well except for the slugs, snails and caterpillars!!!

Anyhoo my new potatoes grew fine then the tops went brown and died off, when I have lifted the potatoes they have bore holes in them, some containing millipede type things around 1 1/2 - 2 inches long.

Have had a look round and couldn't see any reference to them

    Any ideas??

    thanks
    Simon

Wireworm?? have a google and see if it's that.

Sorry i don't know much about them apart from they're wirey worms that ruin your spuds!!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!
Always aim for the best result possible not the best possible result

thanks - googled it and a site says that they cause holes and the holes can then be invaded by millipedes.

And your right they do ruin your spuds - thanks again.
