No, I'm rubbish at leaf ID. It makes me think of bay, but please don't eat any in case it isn't.

I agree with Wrex, cherry of some sort - how tall is it?

Fruit trees are known to send suckers up from the underground roots so it could easily be a clone of one of the nearby fruit trees.

Its about 1.5m-2m I would say same sort of size as the apple and pear trees, which makes me think it is a fruit tree of some sort as the previous plot own probably purchased them all at the same time.

Nothing near by big enough to send out runners, the pear and apple are only 1.5-2m tall and this is about 10m away from either.

I agree with you jands as they're all the same size. Probably one of those 3 for 2 offers from one of the magazines, which would also suggest it's probably a cherry.

The height suggests it's about 3 years old. Did the apple and pear flower and fruit this year?

It is quite common to purchase either a plum, cherry, apple or pear at the same time, as good deals can be found.

You may need to wait until spring when it flowers to identify it.

I thought cherry too, though whether "proper" or ornamental I couldn't say.

It certainly has a cherry-like cast of feature but it looks more like the leaves of the ornamentals.
