Leek rust

did anyone see Toby smear vaseline on the rust on his leeks - sounds a grand idea, anyone tried it?

I did see it, and I always smile when I hear Petroleum Jelly rather than Vaseline...I'm definitely going to try it as I get terrible rust. I'll do it on the newbies from now on.

I didn't see the program but I know a lot of the leek show men around here put a dollop on at the first sign of rust.(we're back on leeks again now!) Rather than cure it, the vaseline prevents the rust spores becoming airborne and infecting the rest of the plant/plants. It probably smothers the small initial patch as well!

I'm still not happy with Toby - it feels like he is taking apart alot of what Monty put together that felt good. Also, I think he has to stop himself from saying 'just spray it with...' rather than looking at more sustainable ways of doing things.

Perhaps it's just me though - but I didn't feel that with Monty.

Nope - kept away from all the pomp and circumstance...went on hols then got ill so the only throne I got near was white and ceramic.
