Hi, the last week we have noticed a small green beetle type thing about 1 cm on our butternut squash, does anyone have any ideas what it is? it has two tiny black stripes on its back.

The native common green shield bug is harmless, so control measures are not required. Royal Horticultural Society - Gardening Advice: Green Shield Bug

Oooh, shield bugs are beautiful, and not a significant pest. They can suck sap from plants but not seriously enough to warrant any action; some are predatory on other insects.
