all over my brassicas. what are they? and how do i get shot of them? they are a bit bigger than a flea beelte, dark dull grey, weevilly little faces on them. mostly on my brassicas, but clearly eyeing up my lettuces too. they've absolutely shredded my turnips and summer cabbage.

Hi Ishmael, they sound a bit small to be weevils if they are not much bigger than flea beetles. Normally the best thing to do with pea/bean/vine weevils is to pick them off & crush them (usually best at night, put something under the plant to catch them as they tend to drop off & play dead), but you sound as though the problem's too big & the insect too small for that. You could try spraying or dusting with Derris liquid or powder which might help.
