Help - Whats Eaten My Radishes

Can anyone help? My radish leaves have small holes all over them. Not just around the edges like slugs. When I pulled up the affected ones something had nibbled around the radish part of the plant. I've looked it up in my book and it suggests flea beatle? Could this be right? If so what should I use to save the rest of the crop?

It does sound like flea beetle. The beggers get mine every year.Iv'e tryed fleeceing,fine netting, spraying with soapy water.None of them worked,so I too would like to know how to stop them!I'm trying to grow small batches in pots this time instead of on allotment,so will have to see if that works for me.

What eaten my radishes

Same happened to me - think it is flea beetle. I dusted with derris powder, but it keeps happening. I will try growing in pots instead. Annoying when they say radish is the simplest thing to grow!

Have just finished eating second pot of radishes,with no problems with growing.Will definately carry on growing this way.First time I've had any success for years with radishes....hurrah.Good job only I eat them though cos have only planted 15 at a time!

Will flea beetle destroy radishes but leave neighbouring plants untouched?
(after coming up beautifully, my radishes turned into a holey, stalky mess overnight, but everything else is fine)

I guess they went for the tender choice leaves rather than the tough old stuff ..... you can't blame them for that

I grow my radish in crates. Four weeks from sowing to eating and no problems at all. Maybe it's the way to go.

There is an organic spray called, I think, Bug Kill, and it works a treat! I used it on my cabbages, leaf spinach, kale etc, and the caterpillars and other nasties have gone! Not only that, it is safe to spray and eat!
