  • Whitefly prevention not cure?

Had a bit of trouble with whitefly on me Curly Kale and spring cabbage over the winter. Ive been told that marigolds and Basil will prevent them hanging around. Anyone know the planting density? and what do you do in winter?

    Many thanks,

    Vegman.

I always had huge probs with Whitefly. Last year I grew a few Tagetes Minuta (plants were 6 foot tall, more like Giganta!) in my brassica bed, and whitefly infestation is much reduced.

Could be a coincidence, but I think not. French Marigolds might be just as good, and a whole lot smaller.

If you are looking for a mild spray what works not great STERGENE is the stuff i read about on the NVS website it is a mild detergent that they was recomending for green house plants .
I sprayed my Sprouts and PSB and it knocked them back a bit .
The only place i can find on the high street that sells it is Morrisons @1.98p a bottle hope this helps jacob

lemon balm is what you need I have loads of the stuff around the corners of my plot and dont have a problem with whitefly . It attacts whitefly killing parasitic wasps .

Can be made into a tea too and is good for you I still think it tastes like %$*&^ :P

          Whitefly?

          Careful with it, it's a rampant self-seeder.
