My gooseberry bush has been striped bare by something.
Can any one advise me what it was and how to combat it next time.

There is not a leaf on the bush will it survive.

Hi Kieran. Can you give some more details please. Is there anything on the bush? Any mushrooms, any insects, is it very wet at the base ?

Hi Kieran. I have just watched Gardeners World. They had 2 gooseberry bushes that were down to bare branches caused by the saw fly caterpillar. Monty Don reckoned they would be okay by next spring.

If you have any mushrooms around the base of the bush let me know.

      Hope that helps.

        Gooseberry Bush

        Lesley

Thank you for getting back to me so soon. There are no mushrooms in or near the plant just bare branches. They are still a good shade of green.

          Mushrooms

After heavy rain in London over the last few days I have what looks like mushrooms growing in the tubs I have climbing roses planted.

They look like mushrooms with a shiney orange top.

Can anyone advise me if I can eat these or what are they.

No don't eat them! Never eat unidentified mushrooms Kieran.

Kieran, the same thing happened to my gooseberry bush earlier this year - weird thing was the leaves were completely stripped but the fruit was left intact. What a sad, strange sight it looked. Interesting about the saw fly. Didn't see anything on the plant, the leaves seemed to disappear overnight - still I don't suppose it would have taken long to strip it, it was just a baby with 4 twiglets
