It means everything will eventually die on the allotment, cos they'll bring in a hosepipe ban, and then I'll only be able to water stuff near the tap. The other end of the plot is too far for me to carry cans to
So far, this year seems to be a lot of work for not much harvest.
On the plus side, no S.A.D. days at all with all this lovely sunshine

The Royal Meteorological Society have rewritten the rhyme to:-
St Swithun's day if thou dost rain
For forty days, relatively unsettled there's a fair chance it will remain
St Swithun's day if thou be fair
For forty days, a northerly jet stream might result in some fairly decent spells
But then again it might not.

Sounds better to me as I don't want another 40 days without rain.

Same here.....the only sign of rain may come from the fact that we had sheet lightning last night.
I thought it was fireworks cos it was Bastille Day, but nope...saw the flashes.
No thunder though.
Already used up 2,000 litres of our stored 6,000 rainwater.
Now might be a good time to check the well's depth!...it's run dry over the past 3summers.Last edited by Nicos; 15-07-2018, 10:12 AM.

Not good. Too hot and too dry. Mr Snoop tells me that the spring at the bottom of our valley seems to have stopped running. The pond it fills is full but the water has gone green and nothing is trickling out. This will be a first if so. I'm hardly growing anything this year, lots of toms but other than that only peppers, aubergines and courgettes. Probably just as well.
