First Oyster Catcher

Saw my first oyster catcher of the year this morning. I don't know how early they arrived last year but this seems earlier than usual.

Anyone else seen early signs of spring?

robins and sparrows pairing up in the garden over the weekend
popping in and out of the nest boxes we have up around the garden checking them out

A Greater number are mainly resident, but a minority are migrants.
Lovely plumage colours, a good contrast to their beaks.

The field next to where I live always has about four come every year! I'm no where near the coast, so can't see why they come?

They are a sight to behold though and I love to see them!

I think they must be ON course, or need a sat nav as I believe the same ones have been landing here for the last five years.

*Wonders* How long do they live? Surely, its highly unlikely that different Oyster Catchers would be utilising dodgy sat navs each year?

It varies between two and four.............wonders also, do they pair for life?

So many questions I've ran out of icons!
