We had quite a hard frost round here in early October about 30 years ago - cracked the head on an old Escort car I'd just bought which didn't have enough anti-freeze in.

There was a slight frost overnight here in South Wales, the garden is quite sheltered but out walking the dog through the fields first thing, my wellies were covered in light frost from the grass.

Very early for us but, everything has been early this year, I've been picking conkers for the house display for about a week now, the only thing late that I can remember this year was the snow!!
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

My greenhouse got down to 3.4 last night. That's the first time below 8 since mid-May.

It was 2C on the plot some time last week, in a sheltered corner against the hedgerow... :-o

Not sure what the temperature was the other day but the brass monkies have moved inside. The Borlotta Beans looked to have frost damaged leaves

I live in Chesham in Buckinghamshire and despite being approx. 30 miles NW of London we're in a valley and the weather can get quite cold for down south.

Had 3C at 06:30 today and one day last week. We may well get a frost tonight looking at the forecast

Sorry folks, it must be my fault.
I set up the greenhouse frost heater the other day as the night temperatures were heading a bit southwards - it came close to us having a frost last night anyway.

Eeek. Didn't look like there had been a frost when I got up this morning, but I'm worried now I've seen other posts. The weather is definitely heading that way, whether it's quite there or not. I need to buy a thermometer for my sun- room so I can decide when things need to come into the house. Not that it'll be much warmer in here as I'm determined not to put the heating on yet.

Is it me, or is it crazy early? I'm not complaining, it's been a good year and I'm happy with it. Just a bit bonkers!
