Heated Propagator

I use mine for brooding chicks. I use the airing cupboard for germinating seeds!

My pepper seeds came from Plants of Distinction for seed saving today \O/

I've put six in the propagator along with 3 other kinds of peppers/chillies and some early cauliflowers, the seeds form PoD say use by Aug 2011 I'd thought they'd be use by 2012 at least I wonder if that's why they sent me a free packed of Yellowstone Carrot seeds?

My tom seeds still not turned up from Sutton yet!

Doh! We also bring the seed compost into the house before using to warm it up - that takes as above.

March to June will be a very busy time for the one heated propagator?

You don't need the extra heat in June (unless you're in Scotland of course). I use mine Jan-March only (and then unheated for overwintered fuchsias)

You don't need to put anything in the bottom of it

I don't put anything (sand etc) in mine, just pots or trays. I've got very basic ones from eBay (�12 each) and they're fine, no thermostat or anything.
For those rare sunny days when the temp goes way up, I shade them with a sheet of newspaper
