Obtaining levingtons F2+s in Devon

evening all,

I have looked around B+Q and homebase but I cannot find levingtons F2+s, I have found online suppliers but obviously they want a delivery charge which will be expensive. Ideally I want to collect it as I need a really fine compost as I want to grow the sweet candle carrot variety in tubes, all the stuff I have bought in the past just seems to be 50% fine and 50% rubbish which is false economy. I am in south Devon and wondered if any of you have bought this from a local supplier? thank you simon.

Don't live near you but I had a quick search online and I've never seen it before. Have you tried contacting Levingtons directly?

Found this supplier which is based in Hayle. Levington F2+S Seed & Modular Compost + Sand Growing Media > Levington

Seems very expensive to me, being a skinflint I would be buying multipurpose compost and sieving it to remove the lumps.

No cheap options if growing for exhibition but having said that, buying F2s is the lazy option. . If you aren't already a member of the National Vegetable Society, I would suggest you contact Southern Branch, contact details on the NVS website The National Vegetable Society - A registered charity. and askfor contact details of your local DA (District Association). There will no doubt be someone locally who will be happy to share his carrot compost recipe and encourage another grower in his area. If you getstuck, pmme your email address and you can have mine but best to try locally first

wow, this 2014 post just got a like. I love it when this happens especially when it reminds me of one of the old time regs on the vine. I always hoped BB - Bearded Bloke would resurface.
