Oldish Compost

Good Afternoon

This is the first year I've attempted to grow anything other than flowers and so far the successes far outweigh the failures. As I grow everthing in pots and other containers my question is, can I reuse the compost or does it have to be gotten rid of and to where? I have no garden, its all slate and gravel, an mycompost bin (dalek type) will only take so much.

You can re-use it although it probably is worth freshening it up by sieving it and picking out the roots of the previous plants and checking for weevils and other unwanted bugs. It will be exhausted of nutrients so it's worth adding some fertiliser (chicken pellets?) and you may wish to feed your plants more thoroughly when using old compost. Perhaps too you should mix it 50:50 with new compost?

I want to grow as much as I can in pots what do you advise,I would like to grow,tomatoes, spuds, cucumber, beetroot, rhubarb, peppers,green beans,brod beans,french beans,mini apple,pear,plum,trees,garlic,mushrooms,my balcony is about 12by 14ft any advice about brand etc or can you grow from any type if this makes sence.

Growing in pots

I think I may have lost what I wrote so forgive me if I post two simelar ones I want to grow as much as I can in pots IE carrots, green beans,brodbeans,french beans,spuds,tomatoes,garlic,mushrooms,peppers,mini apple,pears,plum trees,and advice on what compost to use i am a penshioner so not much spare cash but know I will have to put a bit in to get started have a lot of ceramic pots most are large .
