  • Bird cage sand

my daughter has returned home with a budgie.Got it in an indoor aviary now and thought that proper aviary sand would be better than the hard sheets question is ,can i put the used sand onto my compost heap?Probably a very silly question, sorry.Does anyone else do this or do they use something else?

I would think it would be fine to add to compost - unless your Budgie is a carnivor.
You may find that you get a lot of millet and other birdseed germinating in the resulting compost, though, as if I recall rightly budgies are notoriously messy eaters and a lot ends up on the floor of the cage!

don't waste your money on sand - use a sheet of newspaper to line the cage.
It can be composted after he's guanoed on it.
