  • Bokashi / Wormery

    Hello Folks,

I've a wormery with no worms at present. Could I use it as a Bokashi bin instead and top it up weekly?

    Regards

    Cheers

No, a bokashi bin needs to be air tight so that you get the right reaction - a wormery isn't so it'll stink and go off.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Alison is right, I didn't realise wormerys weren't air tight!

Why not get some worms to colonise the bin? 10 minutes in someones old compost heap will get you loads.

            Digger,

That's what I'm going to do now.

As an aside the the compost go from the bokashi to the wormery?

I put my bokashi in the compost bin (although I've also burried some in a bean trench recently) as I wouldn't want to put that volume in the wormery in one go.
