What nutrients are in the tap water and are they a bad thing? I have my own well so there's absolutely nothing added to it.

It would honestly take weeks if not months to fill itself from just rain water.

Domestic Tap water is chlorinated and may contain other additives. If your "tap water" is from your own well and hasn't been treated you should be OK - I would have thought. Do you drink untreated water from your well?

Dad filled his 2nd pond from his own water supply. It isn't chlorinated, it's UV and charcoal filtered, so nothing nasty to kill beasties. Although tbh, even chlorinated tap water going into an empty pond won't do much damage. The chlorine doesn't stay. It isn't good once things are living there of course.

Yeah we do indeed, we just run it through a filter jug first. We've been here 3 years now and it hasn't done us any harm yet.
