Where to put a bird table?

Ive ordered one of those sheperds crook bird feeder for my teeny garden but Im not sure where the best place to put it is in order to attract birds.
Are there any 'do's and dont's' for birds??

Where they can clearly see there are no cats coming.

Thanks! Iwasnt sure if they would feel safer with a fence behind them or worried about sneak cat attacks!! I'll plonk it in one of my raised beds in the middle of the garden then.
Unfortunately wherever I put it I would only be able to see it from an upstairs window but Im not really bothered about that. Just want to encourage as much wildlife into the garden as I can.

It needs to be near some cover (trees/shrubs) so the birds can make a dash for safety ~ but not near dense cat cover (bedding types or long grass)

Don't put it above any leaf vegetables, bird poo is hard to wash off cabbage or lettuce

In my loft seems to be the most favourable place at the moment!

If you're feeding them loose seeds, if any fall on the soil they may germinate. You may, or may not, want more weeding to do on your raised bed!

You should end up with some interesting seeds germinating! sunflowers and hemp?....don't know about wildlife but should attract a few hippies in.
