strange holes

  • strange holes

    hi peeps,

    can anyone identify what has made these holes in my lawn(yes i know it needs mowing)

    i have about a dozen of them in about 3 sq mtrs.

    ive put a peg next to them to show the size

    the hole in the middle is the size of a pencil

    any ideas??

        Taff , that's scary - Chipmunks, groundhogs and crayfish!!!
        I have holes in the "lawn" too - they seem to be connected with the mole-tunnels but they're bigger than Hector's. I'd go with burrowing insects too (not chipmunks).

                      Definitely solitary bee nests, probably Tawny Mining Bee. The bees are harmless, try to leave them alone

                        If that's where "Tom" "Dick" & "Harry" come out, you had better be on the look out for some VERY small escaping POWs !!!!!

                            A tawny mining bee it seems. I discovered holes in my garden today too.
