The little buggers where still flying yesterday, some even bringing back polon ? where from?
also some carrying out the dead only about 3 in hive 1 and 2
but all 3 hives still have live bees in so I'm happy, going to make some nuc boxes for next year.

Nice one, glad they are ok. I am hoping to get a couple of hives going next year and I have got all these experiences to come.
                Good luck.

                  .

The main (only?) source of pollen at this time of year is ivy but it makes for bitter odd-tasting honey.

I went to see my bees just after Christmas when the cold let up for a day or so to give them some anti-varroa treatment and was surprised how many bees there were in the hive and how active they were too - they had broken the cluster and were all over the frames.

It's good that they're so vigorous but it also means that they're gonna run out of stores sooner if I am not careful!!
