  • Bird identification, please

I did take a photo, but it's not good enough to bother uploading it.

The bird is about the size, general shape and colour as a robin. Except, instead of the orange bit, it has narrow blotchy stripes IYSWIM. It was pretty nippy so I only got a glimpse, but they looked kind of yellowy green. I think.

Any ideas what it could be? I thought at first maybe a very young thrush, but it didn't look 'chunky' enough and the colours didn't seem right either.

    Apologies for the botched description.

How about trying to use the RSPB bird identifier

    The RSPB: Bird identifier: Identifier

Could it be a garden warbler or a chiffchaff?

Tried to PM you yesterday (or my alter-ego, Olivier did ) to thank you for the link. What an interesting site!

It actually looked more like a Willow Warbler. Aberdeen's in the white bit for Garden Warblers. However, I think I saw it again this morning. If so, burnie may be right, as it was with it's dad - and he was definitley a robin!
