I'm a member of Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife trust, they also have a Face book page.
I have visited a few of there Nature reserves listed in the handbook and on 1 smaller reserve saw my 1st ever grass snake, i mentioned it on the discussion board on the Face book site and one of the top bod's excitedly e-mailed me for further info on my siting.
I felt very important for about 10 mins.

as for the feathered kind, yes the odd Sparrowhawk that has hit a window or a lost falcon. It is still, for me, hard to believe the number of birds of prey that are shot, most though are road injuries. Last summer we found a Buzzard that had injured its wing (car accident) I caught it but hadn't room in the car to take it to a centre or vet, a car stopped to help and I needed something to strap the birds wings together to help it settle, after searching for a while the lady passenger removed her bra and said will this do? The bird made a good recovery, I'm not so sure about me
