    Can anyone ID this caterpillar? it was eating the raspberry leaves.

    NO idea,have been looking at sites,did not realize so may different one's,hope someone will recognise it for you,

      Possibly the caterpillar of the Knot Grass Moth.

        I think it's the caterpillar of the Yellow Tail Moth. They eat raspberry leaves, and look quite a bit like that.

          It's not a yellow tail - you can't see clearly in my photo but it those four circles are like shaving brush tufts that stick up along its back. I emailed a friend and he said its probably a vapourer or rusty tussock moth as they have shaving brushes.

          That's funny, since I often use moth names as passwords because they have weird names, and rusty tussock is one I use, though I've never known what it looked like.

            Whatever it's called, it's very pretty!
            (Itoo couldn't find it on caterpillar ID sites when I looked)
