  • A pair of mallards awaiting a flood in Worksop town centre like the one that wiped out a fleet of post office vans close by in 2019.
This is not a good sign if those ducks are right

ID:	2526251 Noticed a very buzzy active bee on a buttercup flower, and thought god it's taking this pollinating business very seriously. Only when I went around the side to take a picture I noticed this was a gentleman with his lady friend. They were at it for quite a while.

              • Loving that the front garden is starting to buzz with bees. Once it gets to summer it’s a constant sound. They seem to love the aqualegia and alliums were popular too. Less happy to see one of my lupins absolutely covered in aphids. Had the same problem last year on another lupin and found the only way to ge rid of them was bug spray. So I gave it a good go.

                  • Just found out what it is....a peach blossom moth!

                    https://butterfly-conservation.org/moths/peach-blossom

Funnily enough we have a tiny peach tree just under our bedroom window.
We were thinking of pulling it out as it’s not produced fruit for years...frosts and peach leaf curl every year and it’s more like a stick with curly red leaves for most of the summer

Think I might just hang on to it now though

                    • Just read a bit more and it lives on brambles and nothing to do with blossom apart from it’s dots are supposed to look like peach blossom...

                            • Could be soldier beetles, they eat pests & help pollinate. There was a hedgehog in the front garden at about 10.30pm just now

                              • I thought soldier beetles were a different colour, but having found this brill ID chart of all types of soldier beetles I agree.
