  • Greenfinches on the cerinthe

I've got a small patch of cerinthe and yesterday was amazed to see a pair of greenfinches balancing on the stems, apparently attacking the flowers.

On reflection, I believe they were after the seeds - large seeds, just right for a greenfinch beak.

So, I may not get too much seed for myself this year, but very happy to see the greenfinches right by the front door

Just after reading your news of the greenfinches, I took a wander in the garden and on a Pheasant Berry (Leycesteria formosa) I saw a pheasant eating the berries. This is a first, perhaps because I moved it to a secluded part of the garden.
