  • GOOD Bee news!

Goodness what a complete state I got myself into yesterday! Sorry

All is ok! Maragaret, the Inspector of Bees is a truly lovely lady, I was so nervous. She was very gentle with my girls and me for that matter!

NO foul brood -either American or European, American= kill bees, burn hive. European not quite so bad.
    NO wax moth
NO varroa that is worth worrying about (at this stage)
    NO eggs!
    NO QUEEN!!!!!

Lots of bees, drones (boy bees) lots of larva (all ages) all ok!

There is a nice fat queen cell with a goodly amount of royal jelly though. Royal jelly is fed to the young queen larva. So they should 'grow their own' new queen! Margaret says "all is ok, and not to worry, maybe Tilly was elderly!"
So -- "Attila 2 please report to your throne!"

It's all ok according to Margaret, still worried about Attila 2, will she hatch ok? will she mate ok? etc, etc,
It's a four week wait until she starts laying........ sigh. Once I see signs of egg laying all should be well. I will start looking for her, she will wear a red crown as she will be a 2008 queen! the colour dot denotes the year the queen hatched!

Thank you for all your kind words, I feel very privileged and humbled to know all of you kind people. I know its just a box of bees, but sometimes its the smaller things, that you have saved and worked hard for that affect you more than you think when things take a bit of a tumble.

Seems like a second hive will be bought after all!

Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart
    Sue
    xx

Woohoo, thank goodness for that. We are so pleased to hear that all is well - even KK and he doesn't even like bees.

Here's to Queen Attila the second.
