Fantastic. The blue tit chicks in our nest are cheeping constantly now. Mum and dad are working hard.

My Blue Tits will have been feeding their young for 3 weeks tomorrow, fledging day is imminent!
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

They fledged on 28th and 29th. Never known that before, fledging spread over two days. I now have empty nest syndrome, so used to the parents darting in and out hundreds of times a day, shouting at me to get out of the way, now it's silent.

Not sure if you will be able to listen to this:

You may need to cut and paste the link into a new tab.
Does anyone recognise this bird? It started making a racket about 3:30 in the morning.

Copy & pasting the link didn’t work but have you had a look on the birdsong ID rspb page it’s helpful -

Just clicking on it works actually In preview it didn't. . I tried those rspb songs but none seemed to match very well. I don't know many birdsongs. The chifchaf is one I do know that is decidedly un-melodic. This one is quite repetitive. It could be a blackbird but I thought they were bit more melodic. May be we have some blackbirds that can't sing very well round here.Originally posted by Jungle Jane View PostCopy & pasting the link didn’t work but have you had a look on the birdsong ID rspb page it’s helpful -

Could be a great tits. There seem to be a few all singing similarly. May be making a racket to keep magpies away from nests.Originally posted by Containergardener View PostI dont know that one. Could be that its 'messaging ' another bird.
I have great tits nesting and ive learnt different calls they do to each other as one is approaching nest say, I'm.around, dogs about .or other birds.

Yes thanks I can work it
do you think it sounds like this song thrush, the wolf whistle type sounds? This rspb has every bird song with a-z of birds it’s an excellent site to go through listening to them all,if you like bird song
https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wi...z/song-thrush/
It says “Its habit of repeating song phrases distinguish it from singing blackbirds”. Sounds similar?Last edited by Jungle Jane; 19-06-2020, 04:37 PM.Location : Essex
