  • Winter Vegetables in raised beds

    Hi

Just joined, I need your help. Just moved to Lincolnshire and I have just putting together raised beds for vegetables.

I was hoping to grow Sprouts/Cabbages and other Winter Vegetables.

it looks like I'm too late should have started months ago, is there anything I can do
now to get winter vegetables on my table.

please help, any advice would be good

Think you can sow spring cabbage about now.
Overwintering onion sets will be in the shops soon.
Asian veg like pak-choi can be grown - can't remember the exact timings as I've only grown them once...
Probably still ok for quite a few types of lettuce - there are varieties that can tough out the winter months
    Radish beetroot are also possible...
probably other stuff but thats a start for you
    Good luck &

    Welcome along...

1574 gin and tonics please Monica, large ones.

Hello and welcome to the vine Lou Lou

I'll be sowing 'all year round' and arctic king lettuce in the next couple of weeks for a winter/early spring crop. Then there's Kohlrabi, chard and spinach to add to your sowing list.

You may still be able to find plants at garden centres for things like kale, cabbages and leeks. Its too late for sprouts as they require quite a long time to mature, but you can also sow a variety of leafy salads including spinach, corn salad, chicory and herbs such as parsley and chervil.
