I came across a reference in a post recently about growing onions the same way you grow hyacinths with water I want to give this a try, so what feed would I need to add to the water for onions to grow

Well have set up two sets and one seedling, but might try more, and thanks for that info. Must be a bit like growing Hyacinthaceae in bulb trainers. They also stink for a different reason (and sneezing fits), but can just see us all with row after row of glass jars
with onions growing out of them....
Ohhhh . how about a strip of plastic with holes every 150mm, placed over a gutter with ends on it. Just add water and "seaweed".
Start marketing them... 1m gutter, 10 onions and grow bar....
