Debris netting

I bought debris netting last year.
Hasn't anyone else had trouble with it deteriorating and ripping easily. It's been fine for 6 month, then it just rips.

I've not had that trouble. Mine has done 3 seasons and no sign of deterioration yet.

Same as Martin...outside in all weather and as good as new. If you are exposed to wind then it needs fixing properly to avoid tearing.

Mines been going for a few years with the exception of the bit that got tangled up in the lawn mower

I have seen stuff that has deteriorated badly (Luckily not mine). It could be classed as bio degradable if its not ultra violet inhibited!

With all the talk about plastic being around for hundreds or thousands of years, if anyone asks, you can always say you are being kind to the planet by using the stuff you are using!

The first piece I bought must be all of 8 years old, and it's not falling apart, although it is looking a tad faded - bit like me I suppose

Chris, where do you buy/scrounge your netting? Just wondering as there seem to be a lot of retailers on the bay and maybe the stuff they sell isn't all fit for purpose!

Cheap fleece really does fall apart easily, I find, but not debris netting or veggie/enviro mesh.


It could be very dangerous if stuff sold as 'debris netting' did fall apart that quickly - if it was being used for its original purpose on a tall building

Is it the white stuff Chris? I've seen that break down, a bit like white tie wraps compared to the black ones.

I've a temporary rabbit fence round the vey patch - 60m ish. Hanging on rebar spikes. bit stretched at the spikes, but the sails are full of wind these days

Also used for covering beds etc... all ok.

Mines 6 year old and not had a problem some is used all year around for my brassica tunnel.

Got mine from the bay and its been fine. Yer pays yer money(usually) and teks yer chance!

We had a thread about the pro's and con's of different coloured netting for growth, maybe the colour has summat to do with its longevity?
