  • Testing germination of French Beans

I have a huge jar of saved Cobra seeds. They are 1 year old I seem to remember, could be 2.
What's the best way to see if they germinate.
Put them in a tray between damp kitchen towels on a warm windowsill ?
    How long ?

    Advice appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jimmy

I germinate mine in a small bowl lined with damp kitchen towel inside a polythene bag. I put them next to my computer which keeps them warm and stops me forgetting about them. I rinse them off every day to stop any mould growing. They germinate in a few days, a week tops.

Your method should be ok too.

Bean seeds stay viable for ages, so I'd expect close to 100% germination.

Thanks I think I will use one of those plastic trays from the Chinese takeaway.
