Tomatoes 2018 - What will you be attempting to grow this year

I�ve never grown tomatoes before so I�m probably going to start with something boring and go for Gardeners Delight. I will be growing two of them outside in a square foot each at the front of my raised beds.

If I�m successful I might get some planters next year and grow some more up the south west side of my garden office, which should make for an attractive �living wall� effect.

But baby steps...

There's nothing boring about gardeners delight. They are "boring" because everyone has heard of them. Everyone has heard of them because they're a very good all round tomato. Very good Tom to grow for your first go. They were my first and I still grow them every year. You will be obsessed with tomato growing by time the season is over

Gardeners delight are recommended everywhere they�re strong healthy plants,good yield & everything about them that it�s a common variety,it might be boring because it�s not a fun name like dancing with smurfs,giving them to family was funny,it�s nice giving them to friends & family & telling them the tomatoes names like they�re your pet tomatoes

I can only echo what has just been said about Gardener's Delight. It's the only Tomato i have grown every year since i started growing tomatoes about 5 or 6 years ago.

It tastes absolutely lovely. Cracking little tomato and my greenhouse shall never be without Gardener's Delight Tomato's.

Some tomato seed that I got in a Heinz ketchup giveaway. It will be interesting trying to figure out what they are.

Red alert and 100s & 1000s. Going to have to go in hanging baskets in front as there is not enough sun in back. Also on sunny windowsill in lounge.

The only way I could grow anything else here would be if OH could build a heat-seeking structure and lash it and plants to the house.... gets terribly windy and cold on our mountaintop, even in summer

Obviously I wasn't paying enough attention. I would have enjoyed the surprise though I guess it's more useful to know what you're growing.

I grow gardeners delight every year too, a good reliable tom. I'm cutting back on varieties this year so I can fit other things in the greenhouse I've already sown gd, sungold, purple calabash and costoluto fiorentino, the last two are new to me this year. Over the weekend I'll sow some sweet million, I've had good success with these the last few years I'll put some red alert in later for my parents to grow outside I'm hoping to stick to that plan!

Sowed mine yesterday. 35 varieties. However, I realised that some of the seeds are ones I saved myself in 2013 so it'll be interesting to see if they're still viable. Of the 35 the idea is that I will grow 30 but, if all germinate, it will be hard to stop myself growing them all.
