Kohlrabi Collar!

Having not grown Kohlrabi before can anyone tell me if I need to use Cabbage Collars to deter root fly. I have been told that the plant is not so susceptible to the root fly problems like other brassicas. Is this correct?

I've not used collars for brassicas including kohlrabi, but I do use insect mesh to keep off the butterflies (rather than butterfly net which doesn't seem to keep them out).

I've not used them before on my Kohlrabi mostly because I tend to behead my brassicas as i put the collars on.
