Bolting Spinach?

I have never grown spinach before and I�m not sure if some of my plants have bolted. Please could anyone tell me what bolted spinach looks like? And if the plants have bolted is there anything I can do to recover from the problem.

Thanks for the YouTube link the video was informative. The Spinach had started to bolt but I didn't know how to overcome the problem if at all so we had them with our dinner. What a superb taste. Question - If I buy some more seedlings from the G/Centre would I be too late to get a crop for late summer?

Home grown always tastes the best
if you find some spinach seedlings, plant them somewhere shady as they'll bolt in the sun. Pick up some spinach seeds too - and start some plants of your own.

My spinach has started to bolt. I'm picking leaves as and when I want them as normal, just won't get as many. I'll be sowing some more in the next few days. when they are big enough to be planted out, they will replace the bolting ones.

Thank you for the info. I will get some seeds or seedlings and find a shady spot in the vegetable plot.

Yep, mine bolted too. Went to the chickens a couple of weeks ago. Next batch are sown and will be ready to go out in a couple of weeks.

Some varieties are supposedly more bolt resistant than others, but they do still bolt in hot weather. I think the breeders have a problem with spinach as one of the things they are trying hard to improve is germination, which can be diabolical.
