I'm expecting s heavy forking year. One of my Amish Paste forked in its 10cm pot in a very determined way. Arm pit growth is phenomenal.

I am considering giving one of the Amish a place in the bush bed and stopping its top at about 3' and then letting the side shoots go just to see how it responds. I realise this is not forking but mine seem to be more and more like vines wanting to be bushes - determinant fluid.

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

Last year my Gardeners Delight forked. I grew both stems instead of cutting one off but think it meant the plant spent less time developing fruit. This year, I thought it was developing a side stem but turned out to be a forked stem. I cut the one off that looked smaller (and no flowers) and kept the main one.

          Forking tomatoes 2019

Several of mine are "at it" already. Turn your back and they're forking all over the place.
If anyone is growing the Thompson's Seedless Grape toms that I shared, they're really odd. Forking and drooping, curly leaves (like Black Icicle). I thought they were thirsty, but no, they're just norty.

I haven't got any forkers yet
I'm expecting them to start fairly soon

Am going home to check my tomatoes for forking. Sure I had a bit of that last year. Interested in what you were saying about the black icicle leaves. I’m growing that for the first time and had been wondering if it was just struggling a bit with the colder overnight temps as its leaves were curling. Now I know they are meant to be curly. Thanks to scarlet I’m growing some interesting heritage varieties for the first time - black icicle, Black Russian, green grape, orange banana and white zebra. Anything else that I should be looking out for with these ?

The only tomato that's forked so far is Maskota.
I will leave both to carry on as there are flower buds on both.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

You mean Maskotka? if so I'm pretty sure its a bush tomato, growing some myself

My gardeners delight have started forking, also got some crazy big double trusses on them

I’ve got Mont Favet forking, never did it last year.
