How do you make yours?

I'm attempting my first ever batch of home made liquid feed.
It has seaweed ( rinced ) and it has nettles ( slightly crushed, jumped up and down on ).
I will be adding borage when it's grown.

Water only comes just below where a label used to be. Seaweed and nettles are in bags so they don't block the tap. Bags have long string on them so I can give them a stir up regularly.
Is that ok? Is the water, vegetation ratio good or will it be a weak feed?
All advice welcome.

Looks good SP, I have a similar setup only I use 1 bag which reminds me needs topping up. I use any vegetation available........Nettles, Comfrey, Cabbage leaves, Rhubarb leaves just to make it balanced. I know some folk make Nettle tea & Comfrey tea separate but I'm not that fussed.......again, I'm not too bothered about ratio, I find it to be quite weak so put one jug full per watering can. The way I look at it is, they are getting additional nutrition on top of the regular feed.

I make all my nettle/comfrey tea in sealed 2 litre milk cartons so i don't have to put up with the stink and don't attract mozzies!

I like your set up SP me I use a water cistern leftover from when we had the pond and the nettles go inside a submerged pond basket. Comfrey that just get chucked in a bucket with a lid. Nothings measured I add a jug to a watering can.

I have only tried nettle. My comfrey are still seedlings. I use an old decorators plaster bucket with a lid. I fill it up with nettles, put a stone on top, cover it with rain water, put the lid on and leave it for a few weeks. Then I use an old sieve and funnel to drain it into 2 litre plastic milk bottles. I use a cup per watering can, about once a week. The sludge goes in the compost bin. I am thinking little and often. The dog lives to roll in whatever spills on the grass. Not good.

I stuff those 25l water containers with nettles or comfrey, bashing it all down with a broom handle. Then fill with water and leave... makes a really strong tea. SP, I'm not sure you have enough 'green' there for a container that size?

I use plastic tea bags in a plastic dustbin with a tap at the bottom



OK they are sweetie tins that I've had a go at with the soldering iron and I cable tie the lids on

Looks good SP, I use an old urn and add tights filled with seaweed in one leg and comfort in the other, I also add any juice I get from my wormary, as for the strength I run some into a clear plastic bottle to check the colour the darker it is the less I add to the watering can, I aim for a pail coloured liquide

I gave my strawberry baskets a feed using last year's nettle tea on Saturday... even today the whole polytunnel smells like sh*te!

I use seaweed, nettles, comfrey and this year a bit of manure checked in for extra measure. 3 bin lids on top to weigh it down and reduce stench. Don't measure it out, or diute. Normally use 1 watering can per greenhouse 1 times week. Got some monster Tom plants last year so they liked it methinks. At the end of the year I scoop out the mush and use it as mulch/ add to compost, top the barrell up with water and add fresh greenery etc in for the following year.

The above should have read comfrey, how can you get comfort in a leg of a pair of tights also should have added I don't wash out the seaweed nor stamp on the comfrey I just tear it up a bit to give more surface area, oh and also toss in an old nail, helps with mineral content
