Any pot 10 - 15 litres - I have used flower Buckets - builders buckets as the extra size and handles seemed a good idea I now tend to use 25 cm Sq pots as they sit better.

Oh I also use Marshal Gro-beds around 6 plants in each which are good as they don'y dry out but take over 120 litre of compost

I tend to use the 25cm pots from Wilkinsons, 10 inch in imperial, they also do a bit bigger 30cm one (12 inches). Think I chose the 25cm ones as they were simply £1 each last year, so 5 pots = £5, and a suitable size.
Will need to maintain the moisture level in any pot, so in that respect bigger is better.

The 25cm one seems to have a volume of 6.8 litres, the 30cm ones 11.5 litres
