      Plant it with BOK 14 Comfrey, won't seed anywhere but will give you free fertiliser.

        How about (assuming the path is not a requirement) turn the 'turf' or simply cover with cardboard and woodchip. Plant Bocking 14 comfrey along there - get the seed started in a couple of weeks. You will soon have an endless supply of nutrient rich manure/mulch without having to go off site. It can revert to pathway should the powers that be insist sometime in the future.

          Moss. That's the way forward, evergreen, doesn't spread, low growing, hard wearing, soft to slip over on

          Not sure how one cultivates it though, other than living in the North West.
