Hi all,
This is my first year growing sweetcorn. Had a bad start with slugs and snails almost decimating them, but after tackling them with beer traps the plants recoveredand are now ~2ft tall and all growing well.
Until this morning that is - one of my cats landed on one (either from a jump or a fall - not sure which) and snapped the stem near the base. Photo below.
I have put a stake right next to the stem, aligned the stem best I could and securely tied it to the stake. But is there any hope? Anything else I could try?
If there is nothing I can for this plant - is it worth replacing it at this stage?
Many thanks for any help - and don't worry, the cat is fine!

Sorry to hear about your plant,It's a bit late to replace because they all need to be at the same stage of development when being pollinated by each other. Have you got many other sweetcorn plants & are they growing in a line or in a block because they need to be quite close but I can't see anymore in the photo? The least I've ever grown is 6 but they do need a gentle shaking to help with pollinating.
