Where do I start?

I have so many questions. Don't know where to start?

I think the pepper. Sowed those miracle grow pods 8 weeks with a courgette pod plus other seeds and plants. But pepper has only grown a few inches. Had to cut courgette Leaves as it took over and was in the shade of the courgette leaves. Sprayed with epsom salts that I read helps growth.
Any tips do I eave or start again?

I find peppers are very slow to grow, they like lots of warmth and sun. Mine havent even started flowering yet, they are in pots, and were sown february/march.

Sorry I'd don't quite understand. Where are these peppers and courgettes growing? Are they in the same pot, is that the problem? As you have found peppers grow slowly whereas courgettes really romp away once they get going.

Will explain

They are planted in the same patch not a pot.
The courgette and pepper were planted the same time side by side with about 20 cm apart. The courgette plant is huge and taken over. Hope this is clearer.

I think I will leave the pepper as it is as you said yours is hasn't flowered.

I agree with bex - I think you're doing well to have peppers that big! Mine are no bigger than that and they were sowed in Feb!

Have you sowed directly in to the ground? It might be worth considering moving things around as the courgette plant could get huge and dwarf your chilli altogether!

Aah! Okay....you have a couple of issues!

I would move the pepper.
Is there anywhere, nice and sheltered, in full sun that the pepper could live? They tend to do better inside than out but if that isn't possible, how about in a pot by a warm south facing wall?

Your courgette plant will continue to grow and cutting off the leaves for the sake of your pepper seems a terrible shame! The fact is that you are much more likely to get a good crop from the courgette so let it do its thing! It will be starting flowers any day now and the first fruits won't be far behind.

I allow a square metre per courgette, and they use it all... . As others have said, move the pepper - I believe they do quite nicely in a decent sized pot. They take ages to grow, and the fruit takes ages to ripen too, so you may end up picking them green unless you have a really long, sunny summer. Do you have a greenhouse or a blow-away you could pop it in?

I'd put the pepper in a pot too,mine have never done well in the ground & then you can leave the courgette to take over the land.

Going to leave the pepper as it is. Don't have green fingers and will let nature do its thing.
All my stuff is grown in a raised patch on legs.
Can't cut any more leaves on my courgette plant as it's started to flower on the stem that is growing a large leave that is nearly covering the pepper!!

Next question is why has my first courgette flower open this morning and about 9 tonight it was close?

Thats what they do.

Once they get going you get new flowers every day...but they all close at night.
The flowers with a thin stalk behind are male and the ones with a swollen stalk are female. The swollen stalk is actually a tiny courgette and if that flower gets pollinated you get the fruit!
