Have you looked at the photos on http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...2-a_65737.html
The main stem splits into two equal stems - not to be confused with a side shoot that comes out of the "armpit" where a leaf joins the main stem.
    Clear as mud, eh?

Ok so I have gone outside to check my tomatoes. One of my Tomatoberry have gone out both ends at the bottom as well as a Red Cherry. Never thought anything of it. You learn something every day. Is there a reason for it or just nature. Now I am going to have to get more sticks.
Tumbling toms are doing well at moment but they brunch everywhere.

Its not a problem on bush toms - its almost what you expect to see. If they've "gone out at the bottom" its probably sideshoots, not forking of the main stem.

Is it side shoot or folking. Getting my head around this.

                Side shoots, I think!

If you look at this photo, can you see where the main stem appears to have 2 "stems" side by side which split (fork) in two. Its like a Y shape.

My gardeners delight seem to have a mind of their own! All have forked, one of them the fork has forked, and one totally refused to abide by the rules and decided it is going to be a bush despite my best effort to stop it!
