Do you need netting because the books and pictures show netting for it to grow up with the stick. Does it help or not needed?

So how DO you train cucumbers?

I use the mesh because cucumbers have tendrils which they wind around things as they grow, and I think the mesh gives them more chance of finding something to cling to. The first variety I grew, Vega, had lots of side shoots so the mesh was covered with various branches. Cucino, which I have not grown before, seems more inclined to grow with one main stem (at least for now) so a cane would probably be perfectly adequate.Originally posted by cilla View PostDo you need netting because the books and pictures show netting for it to grow up with the stick.
