  • Blight on potatoes PAH

    • Spring onions: I tried growing an old packet and about 1/4 of the seeds came up, maybe 15-20 little plants.
      In general I'd see this as relative success (I've never had any luck with alliums). But after a few weeks healthy growth, and around the time I was thinking of planting them out, then 1/2 of the ones in modules just died. I planted out the final four next to some basil, and now they are down to just 2. I grew them (partly) to give to an old guy who I pass every day on my cycle route to the plot, and he's just been taken in to hospital. It's just a little eerie coincidence I know, but I really want those last two onions to make it.

      • Peppers and Chillies have been a disaster.

        Tomatoes all look as if they have blight.

        Potatoes did get blight.

        Sprouts have all blown and look as if they have cabbage root fly.

        Sweetcorn is still only a foot and a bit high.

        Only had about 4 Swedes

        My Spring onions eventually grew and then the dog stood on them.

        If there is anything else i remember I'll add it.

        Disaster of a year.

        • The last two of my unlucky spring onions have lost their big leaves. Gulp... Any one know how to keep them going?
