Sowed, what seems late - what seems ok?

The one thing that obviously is not going well is seed sown onions. Not brilliant germination and they've looked sickly from the word go.

After a slow start we've had a lot of sun up here and most things have caught up. My forced greenhouse crops are going well.

My problems been with parsnips I had failures but didn't want to give up, the last sowings are now showing their seeds leaves so they're very laste.

I'm pretty happy with progress this year, I think the failures Ive had have maybe been down to using old seed rather than environmental.
Parsley I usually have in abundance, but this year it seems reluctant to germinate.
Carrots and parsnips have been good, hardly any gaps in the rows and only one sowing needed.
Spuds all seem to be happy enough.
Kale looking good, needs planting out.
Beans have been patchy, the broadies are flowering but I've struggled to get Frenchies to come up.
Peas were slow to get going after planting out, but a good soaking seems to have set them off again.
Toms are growing nicely, particularly Maskotka in baskets.
Squashes and courgettes have been hard to germinate, probably 25% success, and they're now late - still in small pots in the tunnel. My 3 cucumbers are small but look healthier than last year.
Chillies - crap, Ive no idea what happened to them, i have somehow bonsaiied them.

We've had more sun here already than we had for the entire summer last year, so I'm feeling positive for a bountiful year!

Lots of things are slow this year, mostly because I've neglected them and also it's been colder than last year.

My beans are happily racing away, spuds are fine, parsnips (parsnips!) are also fine.

But sweetcorn (3rd sowing), aubs, squashes are all incredibly slow. I also have bonsai chillies. Need a bit more of the sunny warm stuff.

Spring onions and leeks - all look as thin as hair ... I keep feeding/watering, but they insist on staying tiny!

All toms, cuces, chillis, sweet peppers in GH romping on ...
Runner beans very promising - two red flowers emerged yesterday ...
Broad beans are doing very nicely too - they're massive with big fat pods swelling as you watch ....!
Onion sets look very healthy as are the garlic ...
Squashes outdoors seem a little slow, but are doing ok - the pumpkin I didn't have room outside for and was left un-loved in GH is fairly taking over the place - good thing it's still in a smallish pot else I'd not get through the doors..!!
Sweetcorn is ok - still a bit small, but surviving - same too with DFB

Sum it up: happy with my growing world..!

The only things doing well in my garden and lottie are the slugs! Very little they have not gotten their slimy little paws on!

Slugs and aphids are having a bonanza - for the first time I have ordered a 2nd lot of slug nematodes just 6 weeks after the first lot. Now waiting for a sensible time to apply them when they are not going to get washed down the road by a deluge!

Carrots, parsnips, peas and spinach are doing well although the spinach has now bolted. Salads also doing their thing. Potatoes are ok, main crop tomatoes are behind due to sowing them late after forecasts of a cold May. In general plants have coped well with first being flooded then having a drought - hopefully they will survive being flooded again today.

It took ages to get any Gardeners Delight to germinate and it took multiple attempts to get 6 growing although strangely all my other toms (Alicanti, Roma, Moneymaker) were no problem. Talking of tomatoes I think that seeds from last years plants have germinated in my compost as I have got lots of unknown toms coming up where ever I've used the compost for other plants. 3 cucumbers (Femspot and Telegraph) died an early death, my courgettes have survived but aren't flourishing yet. Potatoes are well and truly up and running, my strawberries and raspberries seem very happy, and my radishes are doing well. Carrots took two seedings to get going but even now there aren't many showing themselves to me.

Well I have nothing to eat yet as I did everything late due to back operation in March. Looking forward to things growing. Best thing growing so far are the sweet peas and violas. Courgettes look health at moment but broccoli had it. First time trying them, failed. Oh well. Other things are early stages so I should have something in a few weeks.

Mine too! Courgettes were my easy crop since I started 3 years ago. This year

I've sown 18 courgettes, 18 winter squash and have 3 courgette plants alive and 3 winter squash. Caved and brought 2 plants from garden centre to fill some gaps in the plot
