Tomato help please

HI i hope someone can advise me. i bought some money maker tomato plug plants
and as it been so cold in essex where i live i potted the toms about there weeks ago in some multi compost.But they have not grown much in that time and the leaves are turning yellow so could someone from this great fountain of knowledge and lovely people give me some advice please.

Its the cold weather imo, do you bring them in at night?

You can give them a feed but I thinks its more the cold

If they're outside its definitely the cold. Nighttime temps are way below the minimum to be outside, especially with the snow lately. Can you bring them in overnight at all?

If I have read your post correctly, in early April you planted the tomato plug plants outside in pots of MPC. If they are in big pots, as well as the cold the plants may have been sitting in waterlogged compost. I'd bring them in, even if it means repotting into small pots until things warm up. I reckon it will be another three weeks minimum before they can live outside permanently.

I have mine planted in the border of my cold greenhouse and as I grew them "hard" with no cosseting. they have taken on their proper colour and seem to be growing...slowly ... but growing....

I too, inadvertently have been tough on my tom plants which I grew from seed.
I potted them on during a warm(!!) spell (yes, there was one!!!!! ) and left them in the unheated GH overnight. Never expecting it to stay these constant cold temps so have never brought them in over night!
They're doing just fine actually, not massive, but getting big enough to pot on again, soon.

Anyway, think it's just been a bit too cold for yours - could you pop some fleece over them at night?

I'm in the 'I don't want to stick my head out the compost 'cos its too cold club' just been to the greenhouse and 4 have decided it might be safe to see if the coast is clear

Now I just need them to tell their mates and my peppers its safe to come up as well.

The cold weather is also the reason they are not growing.

I start mine off on the south-facing living room window and am too cowardly to take them up to the allotment greenhouse until I feel really cold nights are passed.

Mine are slightly pale (just due to not as much all-round light as in greenhouse) but otherwise growing like stink and I'll be potting them up into bigger pots today
