If you only had 30 minutes to spend on the plot, what would you do?

I'll put the kitchen peelings into the dalek and if it's dry I'll spend the rest of the 30 minutes hoeing

If it's wet I'll just pull big weeds and anything about to set seed!

To me,the only sensible thing to do is,a quick look about,see what needs to be done/prioratised first,it also depends on

1,what the weather is up to,
2,time of year,

when wet do inside work,other times the ground will be better for weed pulling and turning over,
another time,it would be seed sowing/planting out,then the harvest,watering ext.,

Sometimes I like to take a leisurely stroll around the plot, appreciate the work I've done and check up on everything from seedlings and plants (which get a watering if they need it) to structures such as bean frames or pea wigwams that might need a bit of maintenance.

1 - Do anything I'd specifically come to do (typically sowing, watering or feeding)
2 - Spend a few minutes seeing if there is anything that needs to be done (often done in parallel with 1) like weeding, or pinching out side shoots and then do that
3 - Potter about for a bit
4 - Harvest any fruit / veg
5 - Go home

i only go down to be working noseying and dawdling are not for me

Most likely watering and then staring intently at things to see if they're growing (mostly my favourite thing to do!)

After work I quite often only have half an hour on the plot, especially with the dark evenings.
I tend to focus on weeding one bed only, and ignore everything else that needs doing. That way it feels like I've made a tiny bit of a difference.

30 mins isn't long enough to do much but is perfect for quickly checking very thing is OK and harvesting the crops I need for the next day or so.

Still a bit wet to do much so at the moment repairing damage and tidying up along with the inevitable weeding.

At the moment on my plot there's not really a lot of weeding to worry about and the ground still isn't dry enough to dig so if I only had 30 minutes I'd have a walk around the plot checking everything is ok and not about to blow down after the recent storms...usually with my digital camera in my pocket to snap any pics for blog updates (not a lot of changes just yet I know but soon it'll change daily!).
I'll then pop into greenhouse and polytunnel to see if anything needs watering. Other quick jobs at this time of year have been checking garden canes are all clean and ready to be put back into use as wigwams and bean poles in a couple of months' time, keeping a bag or two of compost in the greenhouse to warm up ready for potting on and getting plant pots out of shed in preparation.

Day off tomorrow so planning to pot up a few young plants into bigger pots and also make a start on my onion sets into modules.

In 30 minutes I would water and have a chat with everything growing in the tunnel. Then a walk round the rest of the veggie garden harvesting ( if any needed doing ), checking and chatting. Just make sure everyone ( everyone = plants ) is happy and healthy.
